Screenwriters Festival

The International Screenwriters’ Festival Cheltenham was dedicated to the art, craft and business of writing for the screen and ran to great acclaim for four years from 2006 to 2009; with leading Oscar and BAFTA winning talent attending each year. Bringing together professional industry delegates, high profile guests and new talent from around the world, the Festival provided a unique forum to debate and discuss writing dramatic scripts for film, television and new media. The Festival was developed by Arturi Films and programmed by Arturi’s David Pearson as the Festival Director. Many of its initiatives and approaches have since been emulated elsewhere. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as they say, but SWF is not responsible for, or linked with, any other screenwriting festival.

“The script is the key to making all good films and there should be more recognition given to the role of screenwriter and this Festival helps writers meet both writers, and producer and directors & developers, together we can improve how we work and find emerging talent.”
